A soldier lost his life in a gunfight with terrorists in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir, just two days after an attack in Pahalgam. The clash began when security forces, acting on specific intelligence, contacted terrorists hiding in the area.
According to the Indian Army’s White Knight Corps, a joint operation was launched with the Jammu and Kashmir Police in Basantgarh, Udhampur. During this operation, a fierce exchange of gunfire took place, and the soldier was seriously injured. Despite medical efforts, he later died from his injuries.
Ongoing operations are in place to capture the terrorists. In recent days, a manhunt was initiated to locate 5-6 terrorists involved in an earlier attack that killed 26 tourists in Pahalgam. The Jammu and Kashmir Police have offered a cash reward of ₹20 lakh for credible information leading to their capture.
In a separate incident, security forces successfully foiled an infiltration attempt, killing two militants in Baramulla and recovering a significant stash of weapons and ammunition.
