Hyderabad, April 30, 2025 – In a groundbreaking achievement, Dr. Shailaja Donempudi has made history by becoming the first women to lead the Business Development Group at the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) Headquarters in New Delhi. This remarkable appointment marks a significant milestone in the eight-decade history of CSIR, where the representation of women in top positions has been limited.
Dr. Shailaja’s journey began in 1993 when she joined the CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (CSIR-IICT) after completing her Ph.D. in Polymer Chemistry from Osmania University. She also holds an MSc and M.Phil from the University of Hyderabad. With over 28 years of experience, Dr. Shailaja has made substantial contributions in polymer synthesis, characterization, and technology development.
Her new role as Distinguished Scientist (DS) places her at the forefront of business development initiatives within CSIR, where she is expected to drive innovations and foster collaborations to advance scientific research in India.
