The US State Department has announced its support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and India after a recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which killed 26 people. The attack is one of the deadliest incidents in the region since the Pulwama attack in 2019.

US Vice President JD Vance also expressed hope that Pakistan would cooperate with India to track down the terrorists involved in the attack. He stated that it is important for India to respond without escalating the situation further.
In response to the attack, India has promised a strong retaliation and has given its armed forces the freedom to decide how and when to respond. The terrorist group responsible for the attack is believed to be linked to Pakistan-based organizations.
